The history of sea warfare is a rich one, with many poignant naval battles shaping the world we know today. But without the dedication of our museums, the legacy of these events would be lost to the depths of time.
One of the most critical conservers of Australian naval history is the Gladstone Maritime Museum.
Since their foundation in 1988, the museum has been preserving precious war artifacts from Australia’s ocean endeavours.
But in the wake of the Brisbane Maritime Museum closure, Gladstone was under the pump to upgrade their facilities and collections, so called for donations to assist with the purchase of new cabinetry for the exhibit.
A generous doner by the name of Ross Patrick, a local jewellery store owner, saw that the Gladstone Maritime Museum was in dire need of donations for new cabinetry and decided to pitch in a whopping $40,000 to cover the costs completely in honour of his father, legendary yachtsman Noel Patrick.
Ross’ unbelievably generous donation allowed the museum to purchase much-needed cabinetry from our team here at Showfront in order to house the precious new additions to the maritime collection.
Of course, we jumped at the opportunity to support the display of Australian history and we were delighted to contribute to such a worthy cause, not just to craft incredible cabinets, but to assist the Gladstone community.
The mammoth task involved manufacturing 26 brand new cabinets for the upgrade, and it was no small feat.
After hours of labour and over 50 hours of driving amidst COVID restrictions, we were able to supply the Maritime Museum with a truck full of sparkling new cabinets fitted with cool white LED strip lighting, 8mm low iron glass shelves and Australian Standard AS1288-2006 safety glass.
Our Showfront team worked tirelessly to deliver:
6 x TGL1200’s upright displays
2 x MUPL900’s mushroom displays
2 x CTC1800 treasury displays
6 x CTGL1400 full glass counters
8 x CTGL1200 full glass counters
2 x TTF2400 extra-large upright displays
Mr. Wassell from the Maritime Museum described the upgraded cabinets as “brilliant,” adding that they will go a long way to getting the exhibition set up.
Client satisfaction is our ultimate goal and we are so pleased that the Maritime Museum were impressed with their new glass display cabinets.
As the only remaining maritime museum in Queensland, the upgrades to the exhibit now allow the beautiful city of Gladstone to have a world class display and state-of-the-art facilities for tourists and locals to visit.
It’s been a true labour of love for our team here at Showfront and being part of the project has been truly rewarding.
We couldn’t be more overjoyed with the result and are proud to be able to support local communities; t’s what we’re about, Aussies helping Aussies.
As specialist manufacturers of museum display cabinets, we understand the importance and significance of conserving such remarkable cultural and historical artifacts for everyone to discover.
It’s why we only create premium-quality display cabinets to ensure the best experience for viewers and optimum security for the museum.
We’d like to thank everyone involved and give our sincerest thanks to Ross, the Museum and the Gladstone Ports Corporation.
